God what a time tunnel this place is.
It would take me hours and hours on end to get this journal to where it should be, concerning all the events in my life. But fuck it hehe - I'm just going to leave this the way it is. If you people out there wanna hear all the stories let me know - I'll make a few posts.... Otherwise, I think I'm going to retire this journal. -Mike

Oh forgot to mention my school won the championship for men's basketball. It was crazy here about 10 days ago, I got stuck in a few riots, as well.
I tried to find myself in many of the pictures of thousands of people, lol I found one pic.
See the white arrow, that's me hanging out the window at the bar I sometimes frequent, the the riot police are in the foreground...

Not much new here, got back from the health club from down the street. Just killin' time - waiting for some friends to assemble for a dinner outing.
Well I am going to Brazil in 2 months. The details are almost in stone. Couldn't be happier. :o)
My neighbors across the hall moved out, kinda surprised me. You're friendly with some people then they just disappear. Same thing happened with the guys that used to live next store. I swear this one guy was like Will Smith on steroids. Nice guy. Oh well, wonder what the new neighbors will be like.

11:34 am - and ANOTHER update...
|
thinking......
thinking...........
On Spring break now, thinking is not what I'm supposed to do. :o)
Got reaaaallly drunk last nite.
The construction crew called and woke me up this morning, gotta bend steel in ditches tomorrow. Should be fun. Hope Virginia's warmer than Maryland...fucking freezing outside here.
Well I couldn't get back to sleep >>>alcohol dextoxification to blame<<<
Not bad though, I have the day off, so I might as well spend it awake.
Waiting for my cigarettes from smokesearch.com Check it out if you smoke, it actually makes smoking affordable.
Called my latin chicka last nite but the phone line sucked ass. You go outside of the big cities in Latin America and the phone lines aren't reliable. It's like trying to piss in a moving toilet.
I will try to write an entire song today. Since I've been practicing my ass off lately my virtuosity and rhythm has gotten strong. Woo, playing guitar is fun again! :o)
Oh well last thing before I do another lunch break thing.
My dad's coming later to visit, should be great, we're going to go somewhere in DC, either of two places I'm thinking, a cool place called Bistro Bistro near the Pentagon, or a Shish-Kabob place in Clairendon. Since he's paying (poor college student whine), his choice. ;o)

1:06 pm - Wow, life changes a lot when you don't update your journal in ages :o)
|
So what's new, hm I dunno where to start!
Got out of the College Park CS program, I was going too crazy competing with super nerds and decided I didn't want to punch out monster programs the rest of my life hehe. SO I found something that's way more to my liking and marketable as well. Now I'm at UMUC in CMIS - Computer and information science. It's great - it's like a cross between that programming junk and IT and not idealistically oriented. As soon as I get my degree I think I'm gonna try for an MIS. I really want to go into databases for some reason ($$$).
What else... oh! - I'm going to Brazil in the summer (Rio area, specifically). Should be lovely :o) Well it's actually winter there, when it's Summer here, so you see, I'm going in the winter! hehe
Oh gosh, I got a kitty-cat too - check her out. Her name is "Pawla" and she is the most docile cat in the world. My friend Ellis gave her to me. Oh and now I have to tell you the story lol.
So, Ellis, one of my friends in DC a few blocks from the capitol building found this starving cat one day... He felt bad for her so he fed her a little something. Gah, then he noticed a three inch worm hanging out of its butt - the kitty ate it. So he called her poopoobuttworms. So anyway, to make a long story short I ended up with her and she is all fixed up now, shots and everything.
Here she is now:

Well I guess I'll update this again sometime with all the other things that have been going on. Time for lunch.

So what did I do today, or should I say yesterday? slept mostly...
Then, got up around dinner time and joined a friend for dinner. Afterwards, we wandered around the campus and then came back to my place with some beer and movies. Neither of us have exams to deal with for a few days so we thought we'd have some fun. Anyway, he passed out about an hour ago and I took him back to the dorms.
So I'm just here lounging around at 4 am...
Maybe I'll try and write some music...

Bleh. Just got back from 12 hours of driving in between New Joisey and home (Virginia).
I went to help my dad move the furniture out of his old apartment in Delaware, and into his new apartment, in Joisey. A few guys he works with came along, and it was kinda fun. After all the moving we had dinner at a good place called "Michael's." And afterwards I was exhausted.
We went to the hotel and got the room, I was mad because my dad wouldn't get another room. --You see he snores REALLY LOUD!!!! (I need quiet to sleep) So not getting my wishes on that issue I went into the room and went to bed early. Meanwhile my dad went shopping and bought a bunch of crap. Like $20 watches and rings and stuff. I have no idea why he hoards this stuff - he makes an hefty 6-figure salary.
So then he came in and went to sleep and I couldn't get rest for hours (the snoring). So I said fuck it and slept in the humid car a few hours then went back to the room.... same shit, he's still snoring loud enough that you can hear him outside in the hallway!
I put up with it a while and then wake him up at 4:30am -told him if I couldn't have a good nite's sleep, I was heading back... so now he decides to come back too. Anyway we head to Maryland and gather apartment hunting info, then head back separately. I just got back about an hour ago. I can take 3-4 hours of driving - no sweat! but 7 in heavy aggressive traffic is just a killer.
Sorry to rant about my dad, I love him - but he annoys the hell out of me. His favorite topic of discussion is himself, he has no manners, is generally rude to those around him and he want control of everything constantly. I'll be kind of glad when I move away because it will facilitate some distance between us.
This house is awesome where I'm at but there's nothing to do here, I haven't been able to keep in touch with hardly any friends--most of my social life is on the Internet. I need a change...
Just 2 more months and I'll be at Maryland! - I'm starting to get excited to go now!!! :o)
also I wanted to try and post some pictures so here's 4 I ran around with my camera and took:
1) My g-tar gear 2) The car I drive (all paid off, w-o-o-!) 3) A section of my backyard. 4) My attempt at a self portrait :)

1:01 pm - I stole this survey from DrainBead...
|
Feel free to steal it from me :D
1. Your LiveJournal User Name: MrSensitive I picked MrSensitive as a joke even though you'd probably never know I'm that way 'cause I tend to mask it. ;o) 2. The name that you choose to use: Mike. That's my name. 3. Explain how/why you picked the user picture(s) you have: I had Pixelated *kiss* modify a picture for me, then one day she took a picture off my webcam and doctored it. That's the one I use now. :o)
- The Stats -
4. Date of Survey: 06/27/01 Account Type: free! If permanent, what did you do to get it? If free, why not a paid account? I like things that are free! ;o)
- Your Journal -
5. Why do you have a journal page? I'm usually not the type to "go with the flow," but so many of my on-line buddies had online journals going so I thought, "what the hell," and started one as well. 6. Why did you pick Livejournal (LJ) over another service or handwriting? I've never had a handwritten journal (at least not that I'm aware of!). This is realy my *first* journal. I picked this service because it's the only one I was aware of at the time of starting my journal. I've seen a few other journal sites, but this one seems cooler than the rest. 7. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest) how well does your Livejournal represent who you actually are? Probably about a 7. I don't think I'll ever know myself or can describe what goes on in my head well enough to get into the "10" range. 8. How do you think your LJ represents you the most; factually (includes daily routine), emotionally, intellectually, sexually, religiously, or artistically? Factually, somewhat emotionally and intellectually. I tend not to bother with the rest. 9. How much about your life do you post to LJ? Just things currently happening for the most part, no need to tell my life story to the masses. 10. Ten is gone! Where'd ten go? Somebody find ten! 11. From who/how did you find out about LJ? You know... I'm not sure really, I think it was a link that Opalcat posted on the StraightDope message board. 12. Has anyone ever joined LJ because of you? I don't think so... 13. How long have you been a member of LJ? Like 2 weeks or something. :D 14. How often do you post to LJ? It varies. I tend to post in spurts and then go a few days without posting. 15. What proportion of your posts are friends only? Totally private? None. I'm 100% public baby!! :D 16. What is your FAVORITE interest on LJ: Haven't been around long enough to say. :o) 17. What is your favorite community on LJ? Why? I haven't checked them out much - I will in the future! 18. Have you ever learned anything new on LJ? Nothing extraordinary! 19. Has anything on LJ ever caused you to establish, rethink, or even change your belief or position on something? Don't think so... 20. How often do you respond/comment on other peoples' journals? Moderately. 21. Do you prefer to write in your journal, read other journals, respond to other entries, or get responses to your entries? I like to get responses to my stuff. Who doesn't! :D 22. What's the longest you've gone without reading LJ since you discovered it? A few months I think. 23. What's the longest you've gone without posting to LJ since the day you signed up? A few days. :o) 24. What is your favorite post you've ever made to LJ? I haven't made enough to have a favorite! :D 25. What is your favorite post you've ever read on LJ? I'm not sure... I'd have to think about that. I like to read whatever makes me laugh or cringe! :D 26. What's the weirdest or funniest thing you've seen on LJ? Definitely NakedParts. 27. Have you ever specifically asked a question for people to reply to in your Journal (polls included)? Yeah... I asked if people were type A or Type B... I gotta do more of those poll thingies. :o) 28. Have you ever tried to play the "trace yourself back through friends from a random LJ user"? Hey that sounds like a good waste of time! :D 29. Have you ever played the "add a sentence to my post" game? *blink* 30. Have you ever lied/fibbed in your journal? Can't say I have. 31. Have you ever had something mean said to you or been stalked, harassed, or got into an argument/flame war on LJ (or did it to someone else)? Nope, but I could use some excitement, hehe. 32. Have you ever banned someone from your Journal? Nada. 33. Has Livejournal had any significant impact on your life? Oh hell yeah, I painted "LIVE JOURNAL" on my car I wear "LIVE JOURNAL" tee shirts. I even have "LIVE JOURNAL" underwear!!!
- Friends -
34. Who are your favorite LJ friend(s) and why? I love you all!!! You know who you are!!! 35. How many of your LJ friends are your friends in "real life" (you see them regularly)? None really. I've met a handful of them though, not via Livejournal. 36. How many of your LJ friends have you actually met (but you don't see them regularly)? Four of them, Opalcat, DrainBead, Hamadryad (she lives a few miles away) and Saxface. 37. Have you ever e-mailed or IM'd someone you found on LJ? Not yet. :o) Hey--I'm new here!!!!! 38. Of all the people on LJ you know of, who is the most like you? That's a good question but I can't really say anyone in particular I see myself in. Of who I know, "Pixelated" is kind of "off the wall" and zany like I am and "Saxface" has similar interests. 39. Who is the most intelligent or insightful person you know on LJ? I really need to hang around here longer to be able to answer questions like this. 40. Someone really has trouble with the whole concept of counting. 41. Who is your least favorite/most annoying LJ user or community? Can't think of one... Well if they have a pro George W. Bush community I'd have to say that sucks! :D 42. You'd think the secret to the meaning of life would have a question attached to it. 43. Why are you MOST likely to add someone to your friends list? If I see someone make a post I like. I check 'em out, and if I continue to enjoy what I'm reading then they're added to my friends list! :o) 44. Do you automatically add friends to your journal if they add you first? Depends, but for the most part I will. 44b. What is most likely the reason you WOULDN'T add someone to your friends list? They wont be added if their communication skills are nil, and/or if their worldview is radically disturbing. Anyway, I think 98.7365% of the users here are void of this. :o) 45. Do you care if someone adds you to his or her friends list if you didn't add him or her first? No sweat off my back. 45b. Would you remove them from yours if they didn't? Doesn't make much difference to me.
- More than Friends on LJ -
47. Is your "significant other" on LJ? Nope. 48. OTHER than your S.O., who are you the most attracted to on LJ? There are a few people here I find attractive. 49. Who is the sexiest person you know on LJ? Hmmmm. 50. Have your ever fantasized about someone on LJ? No way!! :D 51. Would you want to know if someone fantasized about you on LJ? It's not *that* important to me. 52. Would you date someone you met on LJ? It's remotely possible, but I doubt it. 53. Have you ever wanted to meet someone on LJ? Sure, I'd like to meet most anyone on my friends list. :o) 54. Have you ever actually met someone from LJ romantically (or otherwise) and hit it off (or not)? No comment. ;o) 55. Have you ever posted a naughty picture/post/story on LJ? Nope. Well not yet anyway! :D
- Technical Livejournal -
56. Do you prefer to post from a Client or the Web Interface? The Web Interface. 57. Do you use HTML to add extras to your entries? Nope. I keep it simple :o) 58. Is your LJ page customized, template, or default? I customized it. Took me a little less than an hour to get it where I thought it looked cool. 59. Do you usually use the WinAmp music detector, add your music manually, or none at all? Nah. 60. How well do you know the LJ features and how to use it (e.g. do you know you could edit or delete old entries, get live updates of your friends page, etc.)? Sure. 61. What is your favorite LJ feature? Posting to friends entries. 62. What is your least favorite LJ feature? I dunno :o) 63. What feature would you most like to see added to LJ? Nothing really, I think it's great as it is except for one thing. The directory. I'd like to check out some folks in my area and see what they're like. 64. What moods would you most like to see added to LJ? I dunno, there's more moods than I'll ever use. :o) 65. "One day the directory will work again." How long until YOU believe that day will come? 267.82 days. 66. On a scale of 1-100, rate the LJ for convenience, usefulness, and coolness factor: 95. There's always room for improvement. But as it is now, I can't complain. :o)
- Miscellaneous -
67. How many other surveys have you done on LJ? This would be my first! 68. How does this survey compare to those? !! 69. Do you think this last question was added solely to get to this number or not? No way!! It's just coincidental. ;o)

12:38 am - As a few days have passed...
|
Not much's been going on lately. Things have been rather slow and life's been pretty relaxing.
Went to dinner with my mom tonight at a place called Tripp's. We had a pretty good time, though we got into a few arguments about current events and other stuff. I think she just had a bad day at work and tends to be a bit argumentative on those types of days. Anyways, it was a delicious dinner. I had Chicken Cordon Blue and a salad. The waitress flirted with me as they usually do and the service was excellent.
So, the main thing that happened this week was on Wednesday... I went to orientation at the University of Maryland and registered for my classes n' stuff.
Intending to leave about four in the morning and set my alarm clock and everything. But ended up waking at five-thirty. I must've turned off the alarm clock in my sleep, grr.
Panicked for being late ( being that orientation started at 7:30 and I had a two & one-half hour drive ahead) I gathered my stuff and quickly hit the road. It was smooth sailing most of the way until I hit the Dumfries--Springfield corridor, preceding the beltway. A parking lot at times, I didn't seem to mind it too much and just weaved around the slower traffic.
Arriving a little over an hour late, I went to the Cole-Fieldhouse where the orientation was supposed to start. I then'd found out that this was where they met in the morning and had no clue where they were now. So going next door to the Student Union, an -extremely- lovely lady called around and helped me get all the info for where I needed to be....
I found the orientation office, got a few things, and waited for the individual groups to return from the walking tours of the campus (turns out I didn't miss much). Gettin' with the Computer Science group, we headed over to the CS department. I kinda noticed that most of the students in the CS dept were asian.
After hearing discourse on the program, issues with transfer credits, policies, etc...etc...etc. We all ate lunch. Then, I took an exemption test for a programming class I'd taken. Didn't pass the test, but more realized that the course I'd taken wasn't as comprehensive as Maryland's course. Which made sense... a community college course can't par with Maryland's CS dept course. So I'll retake the class in the fall, no problem. All in all I'm very happy because 49 credits transfered into the school (that surprised me), and most of the core and tech core classes are out of the way, as well as many of the math requirements. 120 credits are needed to graduate with a BS so I figure I should be there for 2 years to 3 at the most. Currently I'm an upper level sophomore. Woo.
After the programming test, I set up my classes and registered them. I'll be taking a Music course, Latin History II, Discrete Math Structures, and an Intro to Computer Science class.
The way I was able to set up my schedule was kinda cool. I'm very happy with it. Classes will be for most of the day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. And no classes on Tuesday or Thursday. :o)
After taking care of the schedule I got my Student ID card - which looks pretty cool! Then I noticed it was about five in the afternoon and quickly headed out - to plow through the accumulating rush-hour traffic, and get home. It was another stop and go mess like in the morning, but I didn't mind it.
Next week I'll head back up there to look for an apartment.
The past few days I've just been hangin' out here. Not up to much. Haven't been needed for work (kinda on an "as needed" - "on call" typa system) and I actually could use some work as I'm kinda bored.
*wave*

4:21 pm - Thought of the day...
|
Ya know, I realized a lot of my friends have "Type A" personalities, and I'm such a "Type B." I was talking to one of my friends about this last nite...
Anyway, here's a good list to identify yourself as an "A" or "B" (mind you that this *is* a stereotype but most people tend to fall one way or the other).
Type A traits:
Create their own stress Achievement oriented Highly competitive Usually assertive Set difficult targets Set difficult deadlines Attempt several things at once Push themselves to the limits Always in a hurry Impatient Easily bored Use clipped, aggressive speach Breathe faster ans shallower Display tense body language Self-centered forget details, make mistakes Consume too much coffee, etc... Feel guilty about relaxing
Type B traits:
Have stress created for them Interested in *living*, and not *having* If ambitious, are not over-competitive More easy-going than Type A More realistic about what's achievable Set reasonable deadlines Approach tasks methodically Know their limits Are relaxed Less driven, less obsessive Can find interest in most things Speak slower, communicate better Breathe slower and deeper Display relaxed body language More outgoing Organized make fewer mistakes Consume modestly Relish the opportunity to unwind

1:56 pm - ::Yawn::
|
Wow, I had a weird dream last nite. It was like I was in a Stephen King story. I was a kid again back in elementary school with all the old teachers and friends I once had, but everyone ignored me (or was neutral) except for my friends--who were evil and trying to kill me. Anyhow, my memory of the dream has faded since I woke up, but that was pretty weird.
Woooo! Guess what? I'm happy 'cause I have all these new LJ friends. :)
*waves to all of them*
Oh! I got a webcam the day before yesterday. It seems a ton of people I know online were getting them, and I just had to go with the flow on this one, besides, they're cheap! ;)
I may replace my LJ pic with a cam pic, 'cause the resolution for da teeny pix is bettah.
So I cut the grass yesterday - it takes ~3 hours to do. Yup, my parents have a "BIG ASS LAWN" - with 2 full acres of grass. It looks like a park -really beautiful. I'll post a picture sometime; y'all can check it out. :)
OOoooh, I bought an optical mouse for like $30 at Best Buy yesterday. They're really so much better than their roller ball counterparts. Go get one now! ;) Oh, my parents went to Best Buy as well this weekend, and decided to buy a 56' HD television. :))) Too bad I'm moving out soon. :///
I don't have to work until Thursday which is just too cool. =o)
Now on Wednesday, I go to orientation at the "U of M" to set up my classes and all that fun stuff. I have to leave the house at 4:00 in the morning, which'll kinda be a drag for me - 'cause I'm not a morning person at all ;) - but I'll make it.
Hmm, I have all kinds of stories I could post about this weekend, but my mind's a little fuzzy now, well.... cause I just woke up. ;) So anyways I'm gonna go get dressed (yes, this is my first time posting to LJ NAKED! haha :D...), go to the bank, run some errands and stuff. Latah.

8:37 pm - As another day passes...
|
...I return to LJ land!
And what exactly did I do today... well, um, nothing amazing! ;)
I slept most of the day (I haven't had to work all week, which therefore makes me a slouch), and woke up around 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Seeing how it was doomy n' gloomy n' drizzlin' outside, I didn't feel like I missed much (I love the sun - hate the rain). So hopping to my feet, I thought hey! - I'll go see a movie... yeah, "Tomb Raider" is out... so I looked at the movie times and saw a showing--6:30, at the mall down the street. Well this meant I have 2 hours to kill beforehand! So hoping in my car (all the water beaded up upon (ya see I waxed it the other day and it looks fab =o)...)), I went to get some guitar strings and shoot da shit with my old guitar teacher.
He's such a good guitar player and gigs constantly. We had lots of funny conversations like "the you can sell anything on ebay conversation" - "the woo, our music is on napster converstion" - " and the how's so and so doin' that we both know, conversation." I really think I'm going to have an Ivory nut put on my Strat. I know this really awesome Luther that has Ivory stockpiled - but I can't tell y'all any more than that, 'cause... Ivory's illegal. =o
I had Ivory put on one of my guitars and it sings ;)
Anyway, I snagged some strings and plowed through the rush hour traffic to get to the movie. I have to say it was pretty cool. I'd heard some people talking about it in the past few days and I had the impression that it would suck. But that was not the case - it was kinda a fun escape. :) So y'all go see it and tell me whatcha think... :o)
Hmmm, what else....
eck I ate too much popcorn...
...
Oh, I was messing around last night with an idea... to make my bathtub into a float tank (I bet cha'll are thinkin' I'm nuts eh ... but that's OK ;)...) So I steal a few handfuls of salt from the water softener in the garage and dissolve them in the bathtub... then I turn out the lights and just lie... lie there.. slightly floating in the solute, concentrating on my breathing... well... ... ... the end result was that I was relaxed! :o)
Y'all should try it sometime ;D
